When the season ends, that’s when the real work begins — not just for the players, but for the coach.

This offseason, I used two of the most valuable AI tools for the offseason I’ve built — the Player Evaluation Tool and the Team Evaluation Tool — to give players a roadmap to improve and give myself a blueprint for what’s coming next.

A middle-aged sports coach sits at a desk analyzing player stats and team data on a laptop, using AI-powered tools to plan the offseason.

Using AI Tools to Build Offseason Plans for Players

I started with the Player Evaluation Tool.

Each player who came to me and said, "Coach, I want to get better," got more than just a pat on the back. I used their stats, coach notes, and performance summaries to create a personalized workout plan they could do at home, at a park, or with a teammate.

We didn’t need a gym — just cones, chairs, or chalk lines. The goal was to make the workouts real and usable.

The AI generated workouts tailored to what they needed most. Footwork, shooting, agility, confidence-building — based on actual gaps in their game.

This tool helped bridge the gap between the end of the season and day one of the next.

AI Team Evaluation for Next Season Strategy

The Team Evaluation Tool helped me zoom out.

I put in our final season stats, removed graduating seniors, and added my returning players. For a few incoming JV and freshmen players, I gave short notes — enough to keep them on the radar, but not overhype them.

From there, I got a full scouting report of my next year’s team. It gave me:- The type of offense we’re best built for- Lineup and positional suggestions- Key team weaknesses to work on this summer- A starting point for next season’s philosophy

Then I took those insights and pushed them into other tools I use — the AI Assistant for messaging and prep, and the Practice Planner for designing workouts that target our issues head-on.

This Is What AI Should Do for Coaches

It’s not about replacing your instincts. It’s about giving you clarity and saving you time.

I’m not guessing what to tell a kid who wants to get better — I’ve got a tool that gives them a real plan. I’m not waiting until next year to think about who’s filling what role — I’ve got a full-season outlook built from my own data.
